The premier capture software for stop-motion animation, motion design and visual effects.
If your camera is not listed as a supported camera, you may still have options:
- If your camera comes with remote capture software, you can use that with Dragon Stop Motion's folder watching mode. See the manual for instructions.
- If your camera does not have remote capture software, you may be able to use the Eye-Fi card to transfer images to your computer, and then use folder watching mode in Dragon Stop Motion.
Sony Alpha DSLR
Some of the newer Sony Alpha DSLRs come with a bundled remote capture application. You can use those with Dragon Stop Motion's
folder watching mode.
You may be able to use the live view output of these cameras via an A/D converter or HDMI conversion card.
Panasonic Lumix (High End)
Panasonic does not provide remote capture software.
You may be able to use the
Eye-Fi card to transfer images to your computer.
You may be able to use the live view output of these cameras via an A/D converter or HDMI conversion card.
RED
Use Dragon Stop Motion to record video assist images from the HDMI video tap of a RED camera.
You will have to manually trigger the RED to record full resolution frames.
High-Definition Camcorder
Most new hi-def consumer camcorders record to an internal hard drive or flash memory.
These cameras have a USB connection, but this connection is only for downloading movies you've already shot.
There is no way to pull a live video feed from them. So they are not suitable for stop motion animation.
If you are buying a camcorder for stop motion, make sure to get one with HDV (via Firewire) or HDMI output.
